Shutterfly Product Creation
I had the opportunity to create a consistent visual design, architecture and deliver a gold standard product creation platform for Shutterfly. This spanned nearly 3 years of design, research, prototypes, iteration and execution for both desktop and mWeb.
Role
Lead UX Designer
Date
2023-2026
Outcome
Unified creation experience across desktop and mWeb

The problems
The old creation platform (shown below) hadn’t been updated in many years and it was becoming difficult to add new features and launch new products. There was inconsistencies in the tool architecture across products and also between desktop and mWeb features.

Ideation & research
I worked on organizing the creation tool architecture and updating the visual design of the experience across all products. It was very important to maintain all current customization features, while also planning for expansion into future features. This work also included creating prototypes for user testing to validate changes I was planning on making.

Execution
I generated mockups for various tool and product states across all product spaces for both desktop and mWeb experiences (approx. 1000 screens). I made sure that everything was connected to the design system for Knapsack integration. I also worked very closely with the engineering team when delivering specs and also to review progress, answer questions and provide feedback.

Results
After seeing improvements in AOV and CSAT scores during the slow launch period, Shutterfly was confident to push the new experience to users in March 2026. This new platform provides consistent tool architecture across all products for desktop and mWeb, as well as helps the content team launch new products faster.
